Britain is Awesome at Track Cycling

Saturday, 29 March 2008 18:22 by
Chris HoyBritain has always had a good pedigree in track cycling. It dates back to Chris Boardman over-taking the German world champion in the individual pursuit final in the Barcelona Olympics.

But at the track cycling world championships, being held in Manchester, U.K. this week, things have been getting kind of ridiculous.

The current medal table has Britain leading with 9 golds and one silver (which shmuck got a silver??) 'closely' followed by Belarus with 2 golds and a bronze. The only events British riders aren't winning are those that haven't got any Brits in them. In fact, between them the British track cycling team have also set three world records, two of which came only twenty minutes apart!

Now this is nothing new, Great Britain has always been uh... great at cycling, but even when you take home field advantage into consideration, this medal haul is pretty incredible. The big question is, can they repeat this performance at Beijing 2008?

Formula One is Back!

Monday, 17 March 2008 12:39 by
Phew, the start of February through to mid March can be a bit of a slog, what with only the Six nations to get us through, but Formula-1 returned to our screens this weekend and was action packed to say the least.

Only six cars out of the twenty two that started, finished the race yesterday (Rubens Barichello would have been the seventh but was disqualified). Which kind reminds us why traction control was on the cars in the first place.

It's all very well to demand a more driver orientated F1, but the truth is that these cars are ridiculously fast and Humans just can't keep pace mentally. I mean, two of the guys who scored championship points in this race, didn't actually finish!

Perhaps this was all down to first race nerves in slippery cars, but if the next race in Malaysia has three safety cars and fifteen retirements, the FIA may have to look at back tracking on traction control.

Former Olympic Star Justin Gatlin Tries Out For Titans

Thursday, 13 March 2008 09:59 by
'The Gun'Former 100m World Champion Justin 'The Gun' Gatlin has taken part in the Tennessee Titans' pro timing day.

This is not Gatlin's first attempt to break into Football since being banned from the track for substance abuse. Last year he made an unsuccessful attempt to join the Buccaneers.

When Gatlin tested positive, atheltics was robbed of one of it's biggest stars. Gatlin was well liked by fans and media alike and many were shocked when they heard the news of his positive test.

He is appealing his four year ban from the track.

Drugs or no drugs, Gatlin is still one of the fastest men in the world and it would make sense for an NFL team to give him a shot.
